History of Barrier Breaker by Pastor Dale
- 1998: I moved to Minneapolis, MN, where I began caring for babies separated from their mothers due to addiction.
- 1999: Recognizing the need to support mothers directly, I expanded the mission to include them.
- 2005: Completed formal training and certification as a Chemical Dependency Counselor.
- 2015: Introduced the 12-step program model, addressing key issues such as grief, resentment, generational challenges, family crises, and trauma.
- 2024: After years of experience and personal transformation, Barrier Breaker is founded to provide comprehensive, faith-based support for individuals struggling with addiction.
Barrier Breaker was established in 1997, born from a divine vision granted during a profound personal transformation. Starting this work, I initially cared for babies separated from their mothers due to their addictions. From this, an opportunity arose to support these mothers directly.
Realizing that true help for the babies required addressing the mothers’ needs, I embraced this transformative work. Witnessing the revitalization of these mothers ignited my path toward healing and deliverance.
This journey led me to become a chemical dependency specialist, a role I have dedicated myself to for 25 years.
Biography
My Story
My name is Dale Boykins-Sims. Originally from New York, I moved to Minneapolis, MN in 1998. During this transition, I fell in with a crowd that led me into destructive choices, including drugs, alcohol, and tumultuous relationships. Battling depression, I knew I needed a change. Surrendering my life to Christ brought healing and deliverance from my pain and suffering.
Driven by a passion to aid those struggling with chemical dependency, I pursued education as a Chemical Dependency Counselor. My training encompassed teaching, relapse prevention, addiction awareness, and guiding individuals through the 12 steps to recovery.
With a master’s degree in Chemical Dependency Counseling, I have dedicated over 35 years to working with clients grappling with addiction and substance abuse.
My experience spans diverse groups, including homeless youth, women in long-term transitional housing, and at-risk juvenile offenders, all facing significant chemical dependency challenges.
